Toronto Therapist Anxiety Panic Stress CBT ACT DBT Mindfulness

Hi. I’m Michelle. A Toronto-based Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), art lover, karaoke aficionado, elder millennial, and former expert-level anxious person.

Let’s be real, life gets heavy. The word “suffer” comes from the Latin sufferre, meaning to carry. And for many of us, suffering has meant hauling invisible weights day after day. Therapy can be a place to put some of it down, slowly and safely, with someone who understands how hard it’s been.

I know, because I’ve been there, too.

Not just as a therapist, but as a person who lives with panic, anxiety, and agoraphobia. I know the distressing body sensations, the isolation, the cycles of low mood and worry, and the disheartening fear that things will never get better. I also know what it’s like to begin the messy, beautiful work of healing. I know first-hand that it’s possible to feel more grounded, more connected to yourself and your loved ones, and more yourself again.

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO (licence 19193) and an MA Counselling Psychology student. I am completing my clinical hours under the supervision of Fatima Murtaza, MSW, and Zahra Haji, RP (who I call your grand-therapists). I work with adults and teens navigating anxiety, panic, mood challenges, stress, and relationship issues that feel hard to manage alone. Therapy with me is a warm, light, empowering space where you can reflect and reconnect.

You don’t need to carry everything on your own.

Low-cost therapy,
tailored to you

I offer low-cost virtual therapy for adults and teens across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Flexible evening and weekend sessions are available, and insurance-friendly receipts are provided for reimbursement from your provider.

My approach combines evidence-based practices with curiosity, compassion, and personal experience. I draw from several therapeutic modalities that can be tailored to your unique needs, goals, and preferences. Together we’ll explore the stories you’ve carried, examine how past patterns are showing up in the present, and build practical tools to support your nervous system, shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, and reconnect you to what truly matters. Judgment-free and at your pace.

Somatic Therapy: Healing Through Mind-Body Connection

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that recognizes how emotional stress and past experiences can show up physically. This therapy employs tools such as breathwork, grounding, and body awareness to explore and gently shift patterns of stored stress and trauma. Many find somatic work supports self-compassion and a deeper sense of calm, connection, and presence.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Understanding and Shifting Patterns

CBT is a structured approach that explores how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact. It can help people identify unhelpful patterns and experiment with more balanced ways of thinking and responding. It offers practical tools such as thought reframing, emotion regulation, and behavioural experiments to support meaningful change and help clients feel more empowered and present.

Mindfulness Practice: Noticing More, Reacting Less

Mindfulness involves noticing thoughts, emotions, and body sensations with curiosity and compassion. It can help create space between feeling and reacting, supporting emotional regulation and greater presence. Often integrated into therapies like CBT, ACT, or somatic work, it can include breathwork, body scans, or brief meditations to support more intentional, grounded responses to life’s complex challenges.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Developing Psychological Flexibility

ACT is an approach that blends mindfulness with behaviour change strategies. Rather than avoiding or suppressing difficult emotions, ACT can help people relate to them with greater flexibility and self-compassion, while taking action guided by their values. ACT can be beneficial when avoidance and rigid thought patterns cause distress. Many find that ACT supports a sense of clarity, presence, and purpose.
